Troy Douglas is a former Olympian who represented Bermuda and the Netherlands in sprinting, with over 20 years of coaching experience. He has worked with top athletes, including Olympic silver medallist and World Champion Daphne Schippers. He has also coached in professional football at AFC Ajax, working with players like Matthijs de Ligt and Frenkie de Jong.

Yoandri Betanzos is a former Cuban triple jumper and two-time World Championships silver medallist who was among the world’s leading athletes in the event during his career. Now a jumps coach at the Inspire Institute of Sport, he brings elite international experience and technical expertise to the development of India’s next generation of jump athletes.

Stuart O’Connor brings more than 25 years of elite coaching experience. He holds an MSc in High Performance Sports Coaching and is a Level 4 England Advanced Boxing Coach. Stuart has led national programmes in England, Sweden, and with the Royal Navy, and has coached athletes including Olympic gold medallist Nicola Adams. At IIS, he is building a high-performance pathway aimed at taking Indian boxing onto the world stage.

Mamuka Kizilashvili is a Georgian judo coach with deep experience in elite athlete development.Part of the first generation of coaches to graduate from the IJF Academy’s Level 1 and Level 2 instructor programmes, he joined the IIS judo setup in 2017 and played a key role in shaping India’s new generation of judokas.He has been closely involved in the rise of Linthoi Chanambam, India’s first-ever Cadet World Judo Champion, and continues to bring strong technical depth, international exposure and high-performance discipline to the programme.

Ian Gatt is a globally respected sports physiotherapist with over two decades of experience in elite performance environments.He has spent a significant part of his career with Great Britain Boxing, leading performance support and physiotherapy services across multiple Olympic and Commonwealth Games cycles. He has also worked closely with elite professional boxers, including Anthony Joshua, as a physiotherapist and cutman.Recognised for his expertise in upper-limb injuries, particularly the hand, wrist and elbow, Ian has supported Olympic and Paralympic athletes through specialist assessment, injury management and return-to-performance planning.

Baye Diawara is an accomplished judo coach and former Senegal international with extensive experience in elite athlete development. A medallist at the African Judo Championships, Baye has also been instrumental in developing elite judo structures in France, bringing deep technical knowledge and international high-performance experience to his coaching.

Jiwan Sharma

Jiwan Sharma is one of the most respected figures in Indian judo, with decades of experience in coaching and athlete development. A Dronacharya Awardee for lifetime achievement in judo, he has contributed significantly to the growth of the sport in India and has helped shape several athletes who have gone on to compete at the international level. Having been closely involved with the IIS judo programme since its inception, he played a key role in designing and developing its foundation on campus.

Ratheesh Kumar is an experienced rowing coach and former international rower, with over two decades of involvement in the sport. An Asian Rowing Championships gold medallist, he brings strong technical knowledge and high-performance experience to his coaching. He now spearheads the women’s rowing programme, focusing on athlete development, technical progression and competition readiness.

Douglas Eager is an experienced South African swimming coach with over two decades of work in elite athlete development. He has coached international swimmers, including Olympic and Commonwealth Games medallist Lyndon Ferns, and currently serves as Technical Director of the IIS and Odisha-JSW swimming programmes. With IIS and Odisha emerging as one of India’s most extensive swimming programmes, spanning grassroots, competitive and elite levels, his expertise plays a key role in shaping training systems, coach development and athlete performance across the programme.

Kosei Akaishi

Kosei Akaishi is a Japanese wrestling legend and two-time Olympic medallist in freestyle wrestling. Akaishi won silver at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics and bronze at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, along with a World Championships silver in 1989. He has also served as Director of Performance Enhancement for Japan’s national wrestling team.

Balwant Singh is a seasoned wrestling coach with decades of experience working with some of India’s elite wrestlers. Having been part of the national coaching setup, he has worked closely with Olympic and World Championship medallists and brings with him a wealth of technical knowledge and high-performance experience. His understanding of elite wrestling, athlete development and competition preparation makes him a valuable addition to the IIS coaching team.
